With only a few weeks until Record Store Day, we are counting the days here at Daily Vinyl. See Record Store Day for us is like Christmas, Hanukkah, St. Patricks Day, and 4th of July all rolled up into one! There's going to be tons of awesome in-store performances, special releases all going down on April 17, all of which we will keep you abreast of here at DV. Over 1,000 different independent record stores in 18 different countries will be participating in the festivities.
So were thrilled today when we were reading through the news and saw a quote from one of our favorite people Wayne Coyne. Speaking to NME he said, 'The 'cool' record store. It is where you can talk to people who are like you. They look like you, think like you and, most tellingly like the same music as you - the only comparable experience these days would probably be an art museum - an actual place where you can stand and simply be surrounded by your heroes.'
Coyne also said the band were releasing 500 copies of their covert album of Dark Side Of The Moon on 140g coloured vinyl for the day. So Wayne, we look forward to getting our hands on one of those awesome colored vinyls (he's American so he wouldn't have meant coloured), and we couldn't have explained why we love record stores any more eloquently than you. It's the reason why Daily Vinyl exists, so go out there and support your local store!
