If you've ever wondered how this is done, and you want to see the process first-hand, be sure to take a tour of United Record Pressing in Nashville. United Record Pressing is one of the oldest and most-esteemed pressing plants in the country. They've been around since 1949 and even pressed the first Beatles 7's in America before they were signed to Capitol.


These days URP still uses classic techniques and vintage equipment to churn out many of the latest releases from top independent and major labels. They readily admit that with the growth of the iPod and digital music their vinyl pressing business has grown too. People just want a well-made, physical object for their music collection.
