White Stripes 45 Sells For A Shit Ton!

White Stripes 45 Sells For A Shit Ton!: "

white stripes lafayette blues vinyl It seems like ages ago, but in 1998 Jack and Meg White were just an underground band playing around Detroit when they unleashed their 2nd single“Lafayette Blues.” The thing about this single was that it was limited to only 15 specially pressed vinyl 45s and sold one night after a gig at Detroit’s Gold Dollar bar. We all know the story of how they became a ridiculously famous band, and as you might have guessed it, fans have been dreaming of getting their hands on one of these red/white colored vinyls. Well, just the other day one collector did get one of these super-rare records and bought it for $18,000!

Third Man Records’ Ben Swank states:

The first copy to sell went for $800 back in 2003 and it’s been sky-rocketing ever since. Just recently I’ve had the pleasure of coordinating the sale of one of these singles for the stately sum of $18,000. Yes, you read that correctly…eighteen thousand United States dollars. This copy was painted by Mr. Buick and is pressed on especially swirly red/white vinyl.

While we don't have the good news to report that we are selling one of these 45s in our store, we were able to find the tune "Lafayette Blues" for your listening pleasure.
