Now most people instantly think of Amoeba as the best record store in LA, but there are tons of other great spots in the city. We love Amoeba, but we also like the smaller stores, and Rockaway is an LA institution that is often overlooked. The store is located in the hip district of Silverlake, and is just a stones throw from the reservoir from where the town gets its name. Often associated with coffee shops and hipsters, Silverlake is also home to one of the best music scenes on the left coast. Rockaway is a testament to this, a killer store with a great vinyl collection that won't make you break the bank. The prices are competitive for reissues and new releases, and you can really dig up some gems amongst the used LP's here. Don't forget to look behind the counter for a really great selection of 7" records too.
