We are big fans of music, most specifically in vinyl form as you probably know by now, but we are also big fans of soccer (football)! So when there is news that combines the two we are more than happy to report. It was just announced today that The Fall's Mark E Smith will be writing an unofficial song for England for this year's World Cup. Former Fall member Ed Blane will also be on the track called "English Heartbeat", and it will be released under the name Shuttleworth, named after their other collaborator Jenny Shuttleworth. It is to be released in physical copies on June 7 in the UK and no word on vinyl release.
In the meantime the US has a heated battle with England coming up in the World Cup and from my knowledge we have no song composed by anyone remotely as cool as Mark E Smith. So we need to kick it up here, so this is also an open invitation to James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem to please counter with a better song. If there's any shot at the US beating England we are going to need a better song!
