It's a sad day for punk fans around the globe, as we think Iggy Pop might be officially running out of gas. Speaking to the Canadian site Jam! Showbiz Iggy said that he is giving up stage-diving since he last one at Carnegie Hall involved himself being caught by the hard floor. He went on to say, "When I landed it hurt and I made a mental note that Carnegie Hall would be a good place for my last stage dive. The audience were just like, 'What are you doing?'"
Now this wasn't anything new for Iggy, we remember Legs McNeil's book Please Kill Me describing how Iggy fell flat on his face at a show in New York. He tired to walk across an audience similar to what he did earlier that week in Cincinnati for the now infamous "peanut butter concert." We know Iggy's getting up there in age, but it's just hard to admit that our favorite super-charged, sexed-up punk icon is simmering down! We brushed off the Sum 41 collaboration, and the jazz album last year, but this one can't be ignored.
Some videos of the 'peanut butter concert', and a cool Iggy documentary below if you care to reminisce with us.
